CIVILIZATION AND POLITICS,OREGON TEXAS The United States has issued travel warnings to airlines to avoid flying to Colombia as the country grapples with a deadly Zika virus outbreak.
The country has had more than 40 confirmed cases of the virus.
The US Federal Aviation Administration has banned most flights to and from Colombia in the coming weeks.
The warnings will apply to all U.S. airlines, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and JetBlue Airways.
Colombia’s government is considering imposing more stringent restrictions on travelers, which could include closing schools and airports, and limiting air travel.
U.N. experts have urged the government to act quickly to stop the spread of the Zika virus.
