The National Transportation Safety Board says it’s investigating whether a plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico on Friday morning.
The NTSB says it believes it may have flown out of the gate too early.
The plane, a 737, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off of Cape Canaveral just after 2:30 a.m. local time.
The FAA says it is investigating.
A spokeswoman for the FAA said they are looking into the incident and are not releasing any more details.
The NTSB has not yet issued a statement on the crash.
The crash occurred on a weekend, meaning it is still early enough in the day to cause widespread damage.
